African Group Lubricants (AG Lubricants), authorised distributor of Mobil™-branded lubricants South Africa, has officially launched the Mobil™ Give a Drop campaign, a national initiative aimed at supporting practical, community-led solutions that help South Africans build a stronger, more resilient future.
The campaign encourages individuals and communities across South Africa to nominate projects, needs, or local initiatives that could benefit from targeted support. From repairing sports facilities and supporting shelters, to funding accessibility improvements or community upliftment initiatives, the campaign is built around the idea that small contributions can create meaningful, lasting change.
The initiative is part of a broader focus to contribute to everyday South African life beyond bringing quality lubricants, while creating authentic connections with communities through tangible action, keep the communities moving forward.
A campaign focused on practical impact
Operating from one of the largest inland blending facilities in Boksburg, AG Lubricants has more than 20 years of experience supporting customers with globally recognised products and technical expertise. The company is now extending its focus beyond operational performance to community impact.
“We understand that progress is not always driven by massive interventions. Often, it starts with small, practical actions that improve people’s everyday lives,” comments CEO Jake Govender. “The campaign is about creating a platform where communities can voice real challenges and where meaningful relationships can help deliver real solutions. Every contribution has the potential to create a ripple effect.”
The campaign has been designed as a collaborative platform, encouraging South African companies, suppliers, customers and industry stakeholders to contribute funding, expertise, materials or services to community-led initiatives. A dedicated nonprofit organisation will oversee the collection of contributions and the implementation of approved projects, helping ensure accountability, sustainability and meaningful community outcomes.
Driving conversation and community participation
The campaign has been designed to generate sustained public conversation around practical solutions that help communities function more effectively, while also encouraging greater civic participation and engagement. Planned campaign activities include youth-focused initiatives, Nelson Mandela Month community projects, women empowerment programmes, and associations linked to key South African industries and communities.
“AG Lubricants believes that South Africans are eager to be part of positive change, particularly when that change feels visible, practical, and achievable,” adds Govender. “This campaign is ultimately about listening to communities, working alongside our business associates, and helping create solutions that leave a lasting impact. Every drop matters. Together, those drops can create real momentum.”
AG Lubricants has always been focused on helping people, businesses and industries keep moving. Through the Mobil™ Give a Drop campaign, it is extending that philosophy beyond lubrication, demonstrating how practical actions and collaboration can combine to create visible, achievable and meaningful change within communities.
“For us, keeping things moving is about more than engines and equipment. It is about helping communities move forward too. We believe that when people come together around practical solutions, even small contributions can create meaningful momentum and lasting positive change,” concludes Govender.
