Kate’s professional highlights include her recent role as a coordinator for an international work group hosted by the European Demolition Association (EDA). She collaborated with representatives from around the world to publish guidelines for the End of Life of Industrial Facilities. This achievement resulted in an invitation for Kate to be a keynote speaker at the upcoming DEMTECH 2023 conference in Bengaluru, India.

To young women contemplating a career path in the engineering industry, Kate says: “Appreciate your own ability and actively seek out opportunities where your skills, ability, and drive meet the requirements of the position – it is your responsibility to set yourself up for success.”

Her role includes the management of occupational health and safety requirements to ensure a safe working environment for the team and clients. Her journey is a testament to the importance of determination and passion when pursuing a career in a field traditionally dominated by men.

“Our activities vary between frightening and extremely exciting – I mean, we demolish structures and buildings, how cool is that!” Tia emphasises the unique bond of friendship at Jet Demolition, referring to the team as “my brother’s keeper”, whereby each member supports and protects one another, fostering a sense of fulfilment and satisfaction in their work.

Jet Demolition takes immense pride in promoting inclusion and diversity. “We acknowledge differences; all employees are different from one another, whether it be race, gender, religion, or creed,” says Tia. “Being inclusive means that everybody has a place and a voice, regardless of their background.”
