Skil first entered the market in 1924 when the company’s founder Edmond Michel invented the first electric handsaw. Since then, the company has grown from strength-to-strength, becoming a household name identified with convenient, affordable and simple to use handheld power tools.

Today, Skil is a market leader in DIY power tools, professional tools through its Skil Masters range, and garden tools with its Skil Urban Series products.Numerous Skil tools have passed independent ‘best-in-test’ reviews in several different countries.

Skil junior brand manager Taahir Suliman reveals that more than 80 of these reviews were achieved in the last ten years. “This is thanks in large part to the company’s philosophy of providing users with tools which make all projects quick and simple.”

Over the years, Skil has introduced many innovations to the market. This includes the introduction of the variable speed control in 1964, which can be found today on a variety of different power tools. Over innovations include; automatic belt control, first introduced in 1978, to keep sanding belts perfectly on track, and the Equalizer sanding frame for perfectly smooth sanding every time.

Skil’s vast range of products are suitable for a wide variety of target groups. The DIY range of power tools are ideally suited to various home improvement and repair projects, getting all tasks completed quickly, with minimal effort.

The Skil Masters range of tools have been designed with the professional in mind. These tools offer users the perfect combination of performance and value. The Skil Urban Series of garden tools meet all gardeners’ needs, and are simple to store thanks to their ‘Easy Storage’ designs.

Suliman believes that due to the wide range of tools available from Skil, the company will continue to be an industry-leader for years to come. “Skil has been making industry-leading innovations for many years. The company has a history of providing users with the features they need to complete all tasks quickly, accurately and affordably,” he concludes.
