Informative DIY website and app launched to help users with projects

On the 1st of May 2014 Skil launched an extremely user-friendly DIY platform that offers helpful information and advice to assist people with their home projects, regardless of their experience or prior knowledge of DIY.

Skil is distributed locally through Bosch Power Tools South Africa. Senior brand manager Juergen Lauer reveals that the ‘DIY 4 Beginners’ platform is available as a website, mobi site, and a mobile app for Android and Apple devices.

“DIY 4 Beginners offers easy to follow instructions for 50 different DIY tasks to make your home and garden more attractive and comfortable. These include step-by-step instructions, handy tips, and tool recommendations. There are step-by-step instructions on how to install, build, decorate and improve a variety of items in and around the home,” he explains.

Projects listed and explained on the website include; applying silicone sealant, building a deck, burglary prevention, a variety of articles on drilling, articles on fitting a door lock, kitchen cupboards and shelves, hanging a mirror or painting, and how to insulate.

Lauer points out that the website and app also provide a comprehensive and insightful list of tools explaining which tools are best suited to a particular task, and how best to use them. In addition to the helpful information on the various tools that can be used, the DIY for Beginners platform also provides a useful list of DIY tips to assist people with all their DIY projects.

“The website also provides over 50 DIY tips to ensure that all projects are completed with the least hassle and problems. These tips include; an anti-splitting trick for working with wood, how to drill at an angle, how to drill holes in glazed tiles without damaging them, and how to remove nails without damaging the wood,” adds Lauer.

According to Lauer, “Skil’s DIY for Beginners ensures that DIY enthusiasts have all the information that they need right at their fingertips,” he concludes.
