SEW Eurodrive puts the drive back into SA’s platinum industry

Despite a marked downturn in the South African platinum industry over the last year, leading drive engineering company SEW Eurodrive has still managed to secure work in both greenfield and brownfield platinum projects in the Bushveld Igneous Complex (BIC) in the Mpumalanga Province, South Africa.

Building bridges between engineering students and greener mines

The PneuDrive Challenge 2013 Engineering Design Competition, sponsored by SEW Eurodrive and Pneumax, has offered engineering students from six South African universities an opportunity to use their academic ability and youthful creativity to design solutions that can result in “Greener Mining”.

SEW Eurodrive has confirmed that Pneumax have stepped forward as co-sponsors of the 2013 PneuDrive Challenge Engineering Design Competition. The main aim of the competition is to provide mechanical, electronic and mechatronic engineering students with a learning platform where they can bring together their understanding of engineering theory, the latest technology in drive engineering and pneumatics and explore how their ideas could become a business reality.
