A leader in sustainable Water, Energy, Telecom, Built Environment and Asset Management, Osmotic Engineering Group (OEG) has announced significant management changes and business expansion, marking a pivotal moment in the company’s growth trajectory.
The leadership team has been bolstered by the addition of Lynesha Pillai, a water resource engineer, and Nichal Rajnandan, a specialist in asset management. These new appointments reflect the company’s commitment to grow its expertise and position itself for future growth across Africa and beyond.
“We have enhanced our management team by bringing in expertise that will help drive our business forward. Lynesha and Nichal bring a wealth of knowledge and leadership to OEG. Their roles are vital as we continue to execute key projects, such as our work with MTN and our ongoing efforts in Nigeria,” comments OEG Executive Director Dr. Frank Igboamalu.
Lynesha focuses on addressing infrastructure planning and water security related to climate change and resilience in Africa, ensuring access to clean, safe water, which is critical for economic development and human survival. “Projects like our innovative smart technology application and water leak detection systems showcase our commitment to sustainable water solutions in South Africa and across the continent,” she points out.
OEG is actively working on expanding sustainable water resource planning and climate risk management initiatives. With a growing global focus on water security, Lynesha sees this as a key area for future investment and growth.
Nichal highlights the importance of sustainable infrastructure investment. “My role involves ensuring that our infrastructure projects, such as water, energy and telecom systems, etc. are designed and managed for long-term sustainability. It is about future-proofing these assets, ensuring they remain functional and deliver value over time.”
He adds: “For our investors, asset management ensures long-term value creation, capital allocation, minimised risk, and diversification, while ensuring Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) goals are integrated. It ultimately reduces risk and increases return on investment.”
OEG’s ability to bridge technical expertise and financial management has attracted investment from international organisations, making it a critical player in developing Africa’s infrastructure. It includes advisory work for the Cross River State Government Ministry of Water Resource in Nigeria.
OEG has set up a Water Partnership Programme, partnering with the likes of the Water Research Commission South Africa to unleash infrastructure development in Nigeria. “Our work in Nigeria focuses on improving water supply and sanitation systems, a crucial service in need for Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs),” says Dr. Tony Igboamalu (Water Director).
Beyond its water and sanitation initiatives, OEG is also expanding its presence in the telecom and energy sectors. The company has been managing national-level power projects in South Africa and other parts of Africa for the past three years. Its expertise in power management, coupled with work on water reclamation projects such as acid mine drainage, demonstrates its broad capability.
Looking forward, OEG’s growth strategy includes further expansion into the Middle East and French-speaking African countries. With a vision to compete on a global scale, OEG aims to solidify its brand as a leading player in asset management, water resources, and the built environment.
“We are a purely engineering infrastructure advisory company, with the ability to complete large-scale national projects, both independently and in partnership with others. Our growth in Africa, with operations already established in Kenya, Uganda, and Nigeria, DRC, Cameroon, and Lesotho, is just the beginning. The next five years will be critical as we expand and strengthen our footprint,” concludes Dr. Frank Igboamalu.
