As one of South Africa’s most prestigious gender-empowerment events, the Standard Bank Top Women Awards recognises those organisations and individuals whose efforts are uplifting women in business and society in general.

After five years in the UK as a manager in the food-and-beverage sector, Ashleigh returned to South Africa in 2009, joining NGAGE as a receptionist in 2012. “After being in this position for about four months, management saw my potential, and afforded me the opportunity to broaden my knowledge in this industry.”

Promoted to Junior PR Account Executive, and under the guidance of Renay Tandy, PR Director and Co-Owner of NGAGE, and fellow staff members, Ashleigh was able to ‘learn the ropes’ and take on clients of her own. In 2015, when the position of Advertising Manager became available, Ashleigh felt that was a better fit for her skills and capabilities. “I motivated for the position and the rest, as they say, is history.”

Ashleigh comments: “After being in this position for a few months, it was clear to me that working with numbers, negotiating with various publications on behalf of our clients, creating artwork that is seen by the public, keeping our clients’ names top-of-mind in their respective fields and industries, brainstorming with them on their goals, and translating that information into advertising schedules, was what I was meant to be doing.”

Russell Tandy, Managing Director of NGAGE, concludes: “We are very proud of Ashleigh’s journey with us to date. Her selection as a finalist in these prestigious awards is not only a reflection of her personal growth and transformation, but showcases our values as a company. Our clients always know they are in the most capable hands when dealing with staff who are so passionate about realising their own potential.”
