Moodley will support Managing Director Archie Rutherford in ultimately transforming the Civil Division into a successful blacked-owned and managed-business. He is confident of boosting its order book substantially by end 2018.

“We have a substantial pipeline of project work to come,” Moodley reveals. “I am supporting and leading my team to consistently pursue new business opportunities around South Africa, with tendering going full steam ahead.”

Moodley completed the Construction Management Programme (CMP) at the University of Stellenbosch in 2015, a well-respected and highly-rated qualification in the construction industry, which generally only accepts delegates with extensive experience, as well as peer recommendation from CMP Alumni.

He holds a National Diploma in Civil Engineering from the Durban University of Technology, a B-Tech Degree in Civil Engineering from Unisa, an Advanced Diploma in Organisational Leadership, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration. Moodley is currently completing an MBA through Unisa’s School of Business Leadership.

Moodley comments that his move to Motheo Construction Group was inspired by a desire to develop Motheo into a construction-industry stalwart. “I am confident that the group will grow to be in a position to compete with the large public construction companies in no time at all. Apart from being majority black women-owned, most of our staff are young, which means they represent the next generation of management and technical expertise,” Moodley comments.

This also means that Motheo Construction Group is able to enter into longstanding business relationships with its clients. “Many of our senior staff have already garnered a great deal of industry experience, which we filter through the ranks by means of our mentorship programmes. We have nurtured a fantastic team of young, predominantly black professionals who are ready to take this business into the next generation by building a long and lasting professional legacy,” Moodley adds.

“It is important for young up-and-coming engineers to be humble, and to embrace and respect the experience that will surround them when they get on to a site. Another lesson is to always remember that the sky is the limit, and your future is under your control. You need to work hard, be committed, and know that age does not determine one’s success or growth,” Moodley concludes.
