5)      How did you first get involved in KBC Health & Safety’s work?

I was employed by KBC as an Instructional Designer part of the L&D Team in 2011. I designed and developed learning content for Instructor-led Training and Online Training. One of my first major projects was working on the content for Anglo American Induction - Single Standard.

In 2013 I was appointed as Innovation Manager when the team went through a re-structure. We are a small team consisting of two Instructional Designers and a Multimedia Designer.

We have grown over the years and look forward to achieving great things in the future! Currently we are working on new exciting Microlearning and Virtual Reality products to assist our clients and employees to work safer and retain critical knowledge in their journey to achieve NO Harm.

6)      What was the field of safety like when you first started with KBC Health & Safety?

Safety first has always been the core focus area to achieve a NO Harm culture for generations to come. The importance of hazard identification and risk assessments when performing major high-risk tasks is the golden thread in our courses.   Since I have been working at KBC I have become a  lot more safety conscious and constantly reiterate the importance of health and safety to my family.

7)      In looking back, have you seen many changes in the field over those years?

Yes definitely. The Coronavirus pandemic has also hugely affected society as a whole and many more people are aware of health and safety protocols now and the importance of health, hygiene and safety risks, not just in the workplace but everywhere. The role of safety leadership is vital to ensure safe application of COVID-19 working practices and needs to be integrated and promoted within general risk management systems and processes.

8)      What are some of your fondest KBC Health & Safety memories of the past 10 years?

  • Being part of the KBC Family will always warm my heart. Seeing how all KBC employees and the management team have pulled together during this pandemic to keep the business afloat is amazing to see, despite people experiencing so many challenges in their personal lives.
  • I have always enjoyed branch visits and meeting the team from KBC

9)      Please share one memory of a funny situation/scenario that you’ve encountered thanks to KBC Health & Safety, over the last 10 years.

  • On the first day I started at KBC I parked my car and went into the building and the next minute a lady came in and asked who had parked in her bay, oh dear it was me. I apologized profusely and ensured her that it wouldn’t happen again. Later in the day the same lady asked who had used her coffee cup, ooops…guess who? Yes, me!! We worked in the same team and had many more laughs, not all at my expense!

10)   Describe what KBC Health & Safety means to you, on a personal level, in 15 words or less.

  • I am truly grateful to KBC for everything I have learnt over the years. I have grown as person in so many ways. I am proud to be part of the KBC Family.
