Keep your children busy this Easter with a DIY wooden bunny

14 March 2017: Bosch shows you how to make a decorative toy Easter bunny that is bound to give your children hours of fun, even after the holiday is long over.

This novel Easter bunny has four wooden wheels, making it an ideal toy to keep your children occupied over the holiday period. All that you need for this simple DIY project from Bosch are a cordless PST 18 LI jigsaw and a PSM Primo multi-sander, in addition to a T101A0 curve-cutting saw blade, Bosch Home & Garden Brand Manager Davinia Chikooriehighlights.

Materials required are: a standard pine glued wood panel (80 cm x 30 cm x 1.8 cm), a single pine rod (0.8 cm x 100 cm), one bunny template (see the downloads for this Bosch DIY project), four ready-made wooden discs or wheels about 6 cm in diameter, an eyebolt with a wooden thread, and cord of your choice.

Step 1:

The first step is to apply the template to mark out the outline of the bunny on the glued wood panel using a pencil.

 Step 2:

Fix the glued wood panel to the workbench using a vice so that you can use the jigsaw with the matching curve-cutting saw blade to cut out the bunny shape cleanly. Also cut the rod to the desired length, such as 14 cm for example, with the jigsaw. A handy tip for those who wish to cut out the wheels themselves is to do this from scrap wood using a 6-cm-diameter hole-saw accessory, and then sanding the wheels thoroughly.

Step 3:

Note it is important that the edges be chamfered thoroughly so that the Easter bunny is smooth enough to prevent children from accidentally injuring themselves on it. This is a cinch with the PSM Primo multi-sander from Bosch.

Step 4:

The next step is to fit the wheels. All you need to do is drill holes in the feet and wheels using an 8 mm drill bit. Then slide the rods through both holes, and place the wooden wheels onto the rods. Lastly, screw an eyebolt with a wooden thread into the front axle, and attach a cord to act as a leash for the Easter bunny. Now your children can start playing with your very own DIY wooden Easter bunny!
