The benefit of having product marked clearly once out in the marketplace has become increasingly important, comments Banding & Identification (ID) Solutions Africa Sales Representative Matthew Campbell. “Major players in the power utility, petrochemical and hose-assembly industries deem the tagging of any installations or assembly to be essential.”
In addition, such tags must be able to withstand highly-corrosive environments. This is where Easy Read from Band-It comes into its own, as all the characters, carriers, strips and cable ties comprising the system are manufactured from Grade 316 stainless steel.
Explaining how the system operates, Campbell says the characters are simply slid onto the carrier or strip in the necessary configuration, which is then installed using a Band-It stainless-steel tie. Alternatively, the characters can be slid directly onto a 10 mm or smaller cable tie, thereby creating a self-contained ‘wrap’ tag.
Letters, numbers and symbols for the Easy Read system are available in bags of ten or 100, as well as in Easy Read kits. The product is available from Banding & ID Solutions Africa, the local distributor for Band-It of the US.
“This is a robust and long-lasting tagging system that is easy to install, and which can be read clearly in all environments. An added benefit is that no specialised tooling is needed, which also means no special training is required,” Campbell highlights.
All of the letters, numbers and symbols are pre-punched and ready-cut for quick installation. The visibility of the tags in dim or low-light environments, as well as inaccessible spaces, can be enhanced further by using special colour-coated carriers or strips. “We can even assemble tags according to specific requirements,” Campbell concludes.
