Hatch participated in discussions on climate change at COP21 in Paris from 30 November 2015 to 11 December 2015. In the statement, Hatch reaffirmed that climate change is a reality that affects every community and organisation globally.

As a global engineering and consultancy firm, Hatch aims to make a positive, sustainable difference in reducing the effects of climate change by building smarter solutions to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, resilient infrastructure and creating meaningful partnerships.

Hatch’s Climate Change statement details actionable items, including: developing innovative technologies to support cleaner energy production, supporting sustainable cities, implementing carbon pricing and measurement tools, and providing safe and resilient engineering design to clients.

Corinne Boone, Hatch’s Managing Director of Environment, attended COP21 as part of the International Chamber of Commerce official delegation, representing Hatch and the Canadian Chamber of Commerce. “Hatch has always strived to be an industry leader for sustainable practices in the areas we operate,” said Boone.

“We are proud of our role in developing transformative carbon reduction technologies in energy production, delivery and storage, and in transportation infrastructure and resource extraction. Hatch understands the global importance of climate change, and is committed to developing solutions which support GHG emissions reductions and help increase society’s resilience to our changing climate,” Boone commented.

John Pearson, Hatch’s Global Energy Director, added: “We want to do our part to reduce the effects of climate change and drive a low-carbon future in the energy sector.  We are focusing our expertise on harnessing power sources and emerging technologies to meet the energy needs of the future in a smarter and more sustainable way.”

Nsolv CEO Joseph Kuhach also attended COP21. Hatch is a founding partner and proud supporter of Nsolv, a Canadian clean-tech energy company devoted to solving the operational and environmental problems of heavy oil extraction.

Nsolv’s warm solvent technology for on-site projects reduces the environmental impacts of heavy oil extraction by eliminating water consumption and lowering energy inputs, resulting in a three quarters reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.
