The GlobalStar Enterprise and Enterprise Content Management (ECM) Champion Awards, held at the user conference, recognises Open Text customers for their outstanding efforts in deriving business value from innovative and successful ECM deployments.

Hatch was recognised as the frontrunner in the ‘Best Practices for User Adoption’ category for its implementation of Open Text technology (iPas DM and Communities of Practice) to address its requirements for the effective management of all documents on large capital projects.

As sheer project volumes, size and complexity in the Engineering Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) market have significantly increased; manual and paper intensive content management methods no longer support EPCM business productivity demands.

As an example, Hatch typically sends over 2 500 transmittals (receiving, distributing and returning controlled documents) per week for a single midsize project. Hatch’s projects range from small to large, simple to complex, short to long term (7-10 years), and are often located in remote regions and/or in multiple countries or operating centres.

Regardless, Hatch’s ECM solution enables the effective control and management of critical deliverable and non-deliverable documents for each project between Hatch’s clients, vendors and joint-venture partners.  What’s more, the ECM solution supports the management of EPCM projects, from feasibility study stage, right through to development, facility engineering, construction and operation.

Hatch has credited the award to the hard work of its iPas DM team, document management specialists and knowledge management practitioners. These teams are involved in a number of continuous improvement projects within knowledge management, engineering progress management and drawing management and control via Bentley ProjectWise.

This is the second occasion that Hatch has been identified as a leader in the ECM field, after being recognised as an ECM Champion in 2007.

Ends.
