Hatch Employee Assistance Programme Specialist Carrol Roberts-Harrison says that Hatch achieved first place in the ‘Healthiest company in South Africa – large companies’ category.

“Hatch received the award for combining the health of employees, which is measured using the Vitality Age risk factors, with the health-related facilities and programmes that the company provides to their employees overall,” explains Roberts-Harrison.

What’s more, Hatch received first place in the ‘Best facilities – large companies’ category and third place in both the ‘Healthiest employees’ and ‘Most Caring Company’ – large companies’ categories.

Roberts-Harrison says that Hatch holds the health and wellness of its employees in high regard, and, as a result, runs a number of employee assistance and wellness programmes that encourage a healthy lifestyle and an optimal balance between work and leisure.

The Discovery Health Company Index was developed as a joint initiative between Discovery Vitality, the University of the Witwatersrand, the University of Cape Town, Professor Ron Goetzel of Emory University and Thomson Reuters. The survey, which is a first-of-its-kind in South Africa and in its second year, sets out to assess and understand the health status of South African employees.
