PRESS RELEASE

DPI Trading and Afriline Civils supply ductile-iron pipe for Moorreesburg water project

4 July 2017: DPI Trading is supplying 2.12 km of ductile iron pipe to contractor Afriline Civils for a R1 million water pipeline project on the West Coast for the Moorreesburg District Council.

Based at Bellville in the Western Cape, DPI Trading is a division of the larger national Incledon Group. It supplies the same product range, covering over 14 000 engineered products, Managing Director Burt Niewenhuis explains.

DPI Trading is a preferred supplier to Afriline Civils, a civil engineering construction company established in 2008 in Stikland, Cape Town. The pipe supplied was 250 mm CL 40 ductile iron conforming to BS EN 545 2010/ISO 2531: 2009 Internal coating – Cement Motor Lined/External Metallic Zinc, Niewenhuis confirms.

“The main aim of the project is to replace 2 120 m of old asbestos of the F4 water pipeline with 250 mm DI Class C40 pipe, including scour and air valves as required,” Afriline Civils Procurement Manager Morne Marais highlights. The project commenced in October 2016, with a seven-week construction period, and a total contract timeframe of five-and-a-half months.

“We are at the forefront of service delivery in the field of contracting and project management to the South African civil engineering industry, with an established network of clients and customers in the public service and mining sectors,” Marais elaborates.

Niewenhuis attributes DPI Trading’s ongoing success in such largescale water-pipeline projects to a well-established client-and-supplier relationship. “We are not only able to supply a quality product at the best possible price, but have completed many successful contracts to date,” he concludes.
