PRESS RELEASE

Dawn Group to host comprehensive exhibit at 2012 Plumbdrain Expo

The Distribution and Warehousing Network (Dawn) Group will be displaying its far-reaching product and service capabilities at this year’s Plumbdrain Africa Expo.

23 July, 2012: The Dawn Group – a leading South African manufacturer and distributor of quality branded hardware, sanitaryware, plumbing, kitchen, engineering and civil products – will be displaying its vast range of high-quality products at the 2012 Plumbdrain Africa Expo, which is being held at the Nasrec Expo Centre in Johannesburg from August 15 to 18, 2012.

Plumbdrain is the only dedicated plumbing, drainage, sanitation, water, sanitaryware and plumbing engineering exhibition in Africa. The event encompasses all aspects of water conveyance and water conservation, and will showcase related products and services, with a strong focus on the technology, engineering and educational aspects of plumbing and drainage.

The Dawn Group distributes approximately 40 000 products, sourced through more than 2 500 suppliers, to over 12 000 customers in the building and infrastructure sectors. Dawn Group member DPI Plastics is a leading manufacturer of water reticulation, drainage and pipe-fitting systems in South Africa, and the company will be displaying its range of PVC and HDPE products at the event.

DPI Plastics marketing manager Martine Goodchild notes that members of the Dawn Group of Companies are working together to create a double storey ‘Dawn House of Brands’ exhibition stand in order to highlight the considerable value that the various products from within the group can provide in a house with the main focus on kitchens and bathrooms.

“The 2012 Plumbdrain Africa Expo provides all participating members of the Dawn Group with the opportunity to cement relationships with new and existing customers, by interacting in a face-to-face environment. What’s more, the Dawn Group will host one of the largest exhibition stands at the event, which will serve as the ideal platform for us to showcase new products, while keeping customers informed of the latest industry trends and developments,” she explains.

DPI Plastics is a founding member of the Southern African Plastic Pipe Manufacturer’s Association (SAPPMA), and Goodchild highlights the fact that various company representatives will be explaining to guests at the event how DPI Plastics is playing an instrumental role in promoting best practice PVC, for example, by eliminating lead stabilisers from the local manufacture of PVC piping products – a move which displays the company’s commitment to environmental and social responsibility.

DPI Plastics technical and product manager Renier Snyman will also be highlighting the benefits of using PVC products in environmentally-friendly building projects. “The Green Building Council of South Africa (GBCSA) recently announced that the use of PVC products in sustainable projects will no longer be penalised, by removing the MAT-7 PVC minimisation clause from its green star tool rating system. The removal of the clause now means that environmentally-conscious contractors can enjoy the benefits of PVC products, while ensuring that they have a neutral impact on their GBCSA green star rating.”

Bathroom, kitchen and sanitaryware product specialist Cobra is another member of the Dawn Group that will be exhibiting its range of products at the Dawn House of Brands exhibition. Cobra sales and marketing director Ken Kearns points out that the array of products on display at the event will include the technical products such as Cobratron, Brassware and Valves, while also exhibiting the more aesthetic products, including some of Cobra’s sanitaryware and the most popular and newest offerings of taps and mixers for kitchens and bathrooms.

“The Dura range of bath, shower, basin, sink and bidet mixers draws specifically on contemporary minimalistic global design trends for inspiration. It is characterised by strong angular lines, clean styling and an inherent simplicity that makes it ideal in modern residential and commercial environments. We will also be showing the standout products from the Designer, Style and Classic ranges including Callisto, part of the Brian Steinhobel designer range.”

Kearns points out that Cobra will be displaying its recently-launched range of Belina basin mixers at the 2012 Plumbdrain Expo. “The Belina range was designed specifically to fill a gap in the market for value-for-money single lever basin, bath and shower mixers that complement a variety of interior decor styles.”

Kearns highlights the fact that Cobra plans to showcase its commitment to sustainability, quality standards and innovative engineering for optimum water and energy savings, through its new touch-free, electronic control touch free soap dispenser. “Created in direct response to market demand for products that are more hygienic and more energy efficient, the dispenser only releases soap when the sensor detects hand movement. Cobra’s electronic taps and mixers have always relied on highly accurate sensors to deliver water only when activated. This reduces water wastage, ensures hygienic operations and offers clients increased flexibility, as the sensors can be preset to intuitively deliver the correct amount of water for a required function,” he continues.

Cobra will be displaying its range of Masterflo valves, which incorporates in-line valves with couplings for copper, galvanised or plastic piping systems. The range includes 15mm and 22mm valves for copper, MLP and SLP systems in both 400kPa and 600kPa pressure ratings. The range comes standard with integral expansion relief valves which, together with the operating cartridge, can be easily removed from the body.

Kearns adds that Cobra representatives will be highlighting the company’s new user-friendly product icons that are provided with all customer literature. “Cobra has introduced new product feature icons to all its literature to help plumbers, specifiers, architects and consumers recognise the differentiating features of its various products more easily. The icons denote specific product features and benefits, and also highlight certain technical aspects of the products, including individual flow rates, temperature and flow control, which helps to minimise any confusion related to technical aspects.”

The Dawn Sanitaryware Division (DSD) comprises three well established brands, namely; Vaal Sanitaryware, Libra Bathrooms and Plexicor Baths, all of which will be on display at the Dawn House of Brands exhibition. DSD marketing consultant Bernice Maré says: “In addition to our contract and entry level Vaal Sanitaryware items, an array of new products will be on display. This includes new basins, close couple suites, wall hung pans and floor mounted back to wall pans. Vaal strives to manufacture eco-friendly products and will display one of the waterless urinals which is fast growing in popularity.”

Maré notes that only the best raw materials are used to manufacture high quality, fully recyclable Libra and Plexicor products. “The products do not yellow with age, and guests at the exhibition will be given the opportunity to discover first-hand how the Libra and Plexicor ranges are easy to clean, in addition to being resistant to impact, scratching and cigarette burns.”

ISCA is a leading South African manufacturer of high quality brass taps and mixers for domestic applications, and is another Dawn Group member that will be introducing two of its newest ranges at the expo, namely; the single lever Bordo range and the more conventional Lerato range both of which are competitively priced. Isca’s flagship Prestige Range will also be on display at the event.

The Dawn Group will be exhibiting at Stand H11 throughout the duration of the 2012 Plumbdrain Africa Expo. For more information on the company and its range of products, visit www.dawnltd.co.za
