CARBON TAX ACT 15 OF 2019

16 August 2019
South Africa’s energy market is dominated by coal-fired power, creating the largest carbon footprint on the African continent. As a result, the Carbon Tax Act (2019) has been promulgated to tax individuals, companies and public enterprises proportionately against the carbon dioxide (CO2) equivalent of greenhouse gas emissions. The primary objective of the Act is ultimately to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in a sustainable, cost-effective and affordable manner.
