Bosch laser measure boasts an integrated incline sensor

DIY tasks and renovation work can be an expensive exercise, which is why tradespeople are always striving to cut costs and maximise the effectiveness of their tools. Bosch understands this imperative implicitly, as demonstrated by its PLR 50 C laser measure, the first of its kind to feature an integrated incline sensor.

The incline sensor is accurate to within 0.2°. It can measure inclines and distances of up to 50 m with millimetre accuracy, as well as effortlessly calculate areas, volumes, and distances, in addition to indirect heights, lengths, and double indirect heights.

“If you want to measure a wall height, all you have to do is simply aim the laser measure at the top edge,” Sebastian Johannes, Bosch Measuring Tools Brand Manager, explains. The instrument will then calculate the actual height automatically, based on the distance and angle measured.

The measured and calculated values are saved automatically. These can also be transferred quickly to the free PLR ‘Measure & Go’ app available from Bosch. “For example, these figures can be entered into a sketch, and taken along to your DIY store on a smartphone or tablet. They can also be e-mailed directly to your decorator as a PDF document, so that he or she knows exactly how much material to bring with him,” Johannes explains.

Additional features include three references for measuring, namely front edge, back edge, and positioning plate; a continuous measurement mode with minimum/maximum function; automatic addition and subtraction of distances, areas and volumes; and automatic storage of the last ten measuring results.

Weighing only 0.13 kg, the measurement range of the instrument is 0.05 m to 50 m, with a typical measurement accuracy of about ± 2 mm. The Bosch PLR C 50 laser measure comes complete with three 1.5 V LR03 (AAA) batteries, a hand loop, and a convenient protective case to reduce any risk of damage.
