The signage and branding company designs, manufactures and erects 70 to 100 advertising boards for leading client API Property Group a month. Managing Director Lee Dacey comments how the ten-year-long relationship with Banding & ID Solutions Africa has allowed Stonehouse Graphics to remain at the forefront of the highly-competitive signage industry.

Dacey explains that a typical advertising board for API Property Group measures 8 m by 4 m, attached to a frame made from 25 mm by 25 mm steel tubing. The completed board then has to be attached to a wooden pole for on-site erection, which is where the Band-It solution comes into its own.

Banding & ID Solutions business manager Rosa Dos Remendos elaborates that the company supplies Stonehouse Graphics with about ten boxes of Band-It stainless steel strapping a month, with 30 m in a box, together with sufficient buckles. The buckles are supplied separately, with 100 to a box.

“API Property Group is an important client that has entrusted a major contract to us. This requires a quick turnaround time on the part of our installation team in order to meet the monthly quota of signage required to be erected by the client,” Dacey says.

He explains that the traditional method of affixing signage boards to the poles for on-site erection is either to use hose clamps or bolts. The former are limited in terms of their size and require manual tightening via a screwdriver, with little control over the tightening process itself, while the latter require holes to be drilled through the steel frame and the pole itself, a time-consuming and potentially hazardous process.

Banding & ID Solutions Africa also supplies Stonehouse Graphics with a special Band-It Model C001 tensioning tool that allow workers to cut the strapping to the required lengths and then attach the buckles accordingly. This saves both time and money as no material is wasted, while the tightening process itself is speeded up.

Safety is also enhanced as the Band-It Model C001 tensioning tool ensures that the strapping grips the pole to the steel frame as tightly as possible. “For example, we have erected signage at elevated positions, and therefore we have to guarantee that it will be held securely in place. This Band-It solution gives us the necessary peace of mind,” Dacey comments.

He adds that another advantage of dealing with the company directly, as opposed to a conventional hardware retailer, is the back-up and support service offered. “Signage is not a run-of-the-mill industry, and there are often instances where we are required to erect boards outside of normal working hours,” Dacey explains.

“Whenever we have encountered a situation like this, Banding & ID Solutions Africa has always been on hand to provide us with the necessary products and equipment.” Dos Remendos adds that this is because the company has a unique understanding of the specific needs of clients such as Stonehouse Graphics, and is always on-hand to provide assistance and service.

“It is for this reason that we have enjoyed a ten-year relationship to date,” Dacey stresses. “Not only does the company supply superior products, but it understands the business imperatives we operate under.”

Dos Remendos comments that the long-standing relationship with Stonehouse Graphics is a typical example of the type of proactive partnership that Banding & ID Solutions Africa prefers to enter into with its clients. “We do not simply supply products; we offer a total solution for our clients’ specific requirements,” she concludes.
